Evaluation 4, How did you use new media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages.
Within our media campaign, we have used several different pieces of technology. That have helped us create what i feel to be a very successful piece of media.
Here are some examples of the technology that we used;

Panasonic HDC-SD80- This is the camera we predominantly used when filming our production. When holding the camera in hand, it is extremely hard to get a steady, clear shot. This is why this camera free of hand was used mainly used for still shots.

Tripod - This simple piece of equiptment is possibly the most vital item found within a media department. It allows us to capture great shots whilst being steady and efficient. I believe that my technique of directing the tripod within the correct positions to then use it to film has improved substantially.

Voice Recorder - We needed to use this for evaluation activity 2. We needed to explain sevearl aspects of our choices and decisions made within our soap. As time past we realised several factors that affect the quality to the recordings. For example background noise is crucial to block out, this can simply be avoided by recording within an open space free of any spectators.

Social Networking Site - 'Facebook' was used to capture several different images in which i used for edvidence and to illustrate whom was featured in my soap. Reciving feedback would also be very effective for this, being a social networking site i can reach a broad range of potential audiences, and if i was to place my soap trailer upon this site i could gain sufficient feedback to help make my media production far greater than before.

Blogspot - This was the website in which we used to upload constant information and updates from our campaign. And it came in very useful, because it allowed our teachers to have a constant view upon which work had been finished and uploaded. This was also helpful because whilst completing other pieces of work we could gain feedback on what needed to be changed or if good enough to be kept the same.

Evaluation 3, what have learnt from your audience feedback?
When creating a draft of our soap, we allowed several classes of students to watch our media production. And in return we could receive some feedback, illustrating what was good and also what was bad. Therefore we could adapt our finale production for the better hopefully gaining a better grade within the end of the course.
To gain further input upon my media production, i created a questionnaire. Which i greatly appreciated receiving back, and the results allowed me to once again adapt my soap to the viewers needs. Here is a brief over view of my questionnaire and some of the feedback i received.
Questionnaire;
1. Would you be interested in watching my soap? Yes/No 8/2
2. Do you realise the concept of our soap? Yes/No 9/1
3. Would you be interested in an soap that was specifically made for a younger audience? Yes/No 10/0
4. Which soap type do you prefer, traditional or modern ? T/M 6/5
5. Is channel four a regular rebroadcasting channel in which you would usually tune in for? Yes/No 6/4
6. Do our titles, within the production make sense towards the storyline? Yes/No 2/8
7. Is there a broad range of characters within our soap? Yes/No 3/7

This feedback showed me that several things needed to be changed. Such things like the diversity within the characters we chose. There was far too many male characters within the soap and that's when we began to search for a stereotypical female character in which we could add. Here is who we added.
We also received negative feedback for our choices in titles. This being a major part in illustrating the story lines found within our soap to the audience. We therefor had to regroup and come up with several different ideas. Here is an example of one change they we went with to hopefully explain this distinct part to our soap.
As you can see our title now shows 'Different Conflicts' rather than 'Cultural Differences'. Now seeing this new statement i agree with the audiences feedback i believe it illustrates the storyline far more efficiently and also links to a far broader audience.

evaluation 1

2. The setting, this part to our soap is incredibly important, and me and my group wanted to include several different stereotypical settings, such as a public, comforting area like a pub. which within our media piece we did use. Also we used such settings like local off licenses like you see in popular soaps such as Eastenders and Coronation street. We wanted the audience to be able to relate to our settings to almost make it seem like real life, allowing the audience to relate to our settings just like they would within their everyday life.
3.Costumes and props, these were two both interesting factors we came across when filming for our soap, because due to some constant issues such as timing of the days sun light, we had to film over several days. And we had to make sure all of our actors were wearing the same clothing as the first time they had been filmed.
4. Camerawork and editing, these two particular aspects for our soap were very interesting when structuring our story lines, because we wanted to illustrate different emotions and opinions through the shots we used. for example when using a mid-shot upon Malcolm (elderly man) we see him staring at what seems to be his past wife illustrating a sad emotive shot. The editing upon our soap was very linked towards our music in making it so that it fitted well with each other, for example which i feel is a very linked is the the piece of edditing upon Liam Dawson pushes the sterio button, and the music happens to turn on, via a non-diegetic technique.
5. Font and style, we used Sans Sirif for our soap and i feel this is a freat font to use for the future, its simple, easy to read. Which within our soap works well because with the text appearing for such a short time we need everyone to be able to read. Allowing our viewers to understand the concept of the soap itself.
6. Story and how the opening sets it up, within our soap we were trying to illustrate such story lines that hopefully would link to our specific demographic. For example 'Exam stress' as you can see clearly within my photo. Because within this current time period our target audience could be facing the same issues. 'Different conflicts' was the next storyline we based within our soap, and i feel this was great choice because it links to everyone within their everyday lives, having diversity is great but we wish for as many people as possible to view our soap. So having a storyline that relates to everyone i feel will work well.
7. Introducing characters, this section was increasingly difficult as time past, because we had to assure that all our characters had the correct items of clothing and facial expressions needed to give off the correct messages to the audience. For example within my picture you can see an attractive female matriarch wearing classy clothes, but showing a stern facial expression connoting that she means business, almost like Peggy Mitchel within Eastenders.
8.Special effects, within all media productions special effects are used to capture the audience and take the viewing level to the next stage. This is something in which we wanted to incorporate but also stick to the stereotypical values that a soap brings to the families watching at home. We used a program called finale cut pro, which enabled us to use such effects like the beam of light that appears on screen which gains the audience's attention for the specific details that appear on screen shortly after.
9. The use of the logo, within each shot we showed the channel four logo placed upon the top right corner. we used a technique which made the logo look opaque so that it didn't take any attention off of the soap itself. We used a synergistic feature with the logo being as i used it within my soap trailer, poster and Tv listings magazine. To purely illustrate what channel our soap was going to broadcasted upon so that the audience knows this and can tune in.
