So far we have filmed approximately 4 minutes of footage and have used possibly 30 seconds of it which we have uploaded onto the mac computers and have added several transitions linking it together.
We still have several things to film which include introducing some more characters within the soap itself. fingers crossed, weather depending we should be able to film the remaining parts in good time.
A finale copy has now been produced and will be hopefully uploading it shortly.

Shot List Ideas
1. Firstly a low angle shot upon Liam Dawson, who's face you do not actually see. He then places a suitcase into my colleagues boot. we hoped this would suggest someone is moving house or going away for some time.
2. The next shot is a POV from a car which shows the surrounding streets of the are that the individual has moved away from.
3. This shot involves two characters, a mother and child, as the child is walking off to school, and cut to the mother receives a letter witch she isn't to pleased with, connoting some sort of money problem.
4. Shot of our Friend Shane McDonald, which contains a close up on his face as he stares at the car, then a cut to shot of his mobile phone which states 'its over'.
5. This shot involves our other Friend who is going to relate to cultural diversity, who is walking past a local chip shop, his choice in clothing is in relation with his place in society. There is then a cut to him being at home with his family, wearing smarter clothing acting far different.
6. The next shot we had in mind, was to be an elderly man leaving the local shop, newspaper in hand, then once he See's us (the audience) drops the paper. Then a cut shot to his very own house, which shows his by himself connoting a very deprived and lonely man.
7. we lure an extended amount of a male perspective, we suggested introducing an attractive female character within our soap trailer. we originally came up with an idea of the character to step out of a car and show an low angle shot showing a very selective item of clothing, high heels.
8. our finale and last shot of our soap trailer we suggested the main character to finale arrive at his selected destination. A house that has a for sale sign outside which we hoped connoted that the character has brought this house and, this was the suggested start to something new.

storyboards

Above is our first sequence within the opening of our trailer. We followed this as closely as we could, to give us a better over view on what we had to do and what order to do it in.
The storybourd below is the follow on from the previous and this illustrates the key factors that we attempted to follow when filming. And introduces some of the main characters who are hugely involved.

This next stroybourd shows the crucial background lives of the characters in which you as an audience are introduced to within the previous storybourd.
Here is the finale stroybourd which contains the finale captured images towrds the finale sequence of our trailer.

successful soap trailers
Within a soap trailer there are various ideas in which supposedly would make a good soap here are a few ideas i came up with:
- fast pace editing
- previews of up and coming episodes
- settings
- theme tunes, fitting tracks
- title
- channel + time

soaps related to females more than males?
'The Female'
A soap is stereo-typically presented across to us as an audience as more of a female program and to be honest i believe in this statement. Females love the idea of snooping into another females or even a males life. And a soap is the perfect stepping stone to view this. I also feel that its a chance to escape reality for the female, they've probably been at work all day and came home to a family awaiting dinner. Its their little time to rest and recover and a soap is the perfect remedy for this.

stereotypes linked to gender
Within all soaps there will be one maybe two or even more 'Matriarchs/ Patriarchs' these are those dominant male and female characters who revolve around nearly all of the story lines within a soap.
Here an example i have found:
Phil Mitchel has been in Eastenders since 1990 and is a very strong Patriarch and will continue to be a dominant character until he retires.
Other male characters will try to follow within phil's footsteps, by this i am relating to the fact that all men think they are 'the man' but when it comes down to it they can insecure and weak.
Female characters - within soaps are very similar to male characters but they tend to 'gossip' allot more which keeps the audience interested and peeled to the screens. Almost perhaps relating to when we or you had gossip in the past. A female character within a soap will also try to use their good looks to get them to higher places.
They are usually the key structure which holds the household together and in some cases like Peggy Mitchel who keep the business together, this just shows that although they may connote Beauty and a fragile sense of mind they are actually perhaps the real bread winners on the block.

Narrative Theories
Vladimir Propp - His theory was that he felt that certain characters within the TV industry had key roles and functions for example in nearly every single film there will be some kind of protagonist and antagonist and many other characters along the way to show different personalities and how they affect the audience.
Levi-Strauss - He believed in 'Binary Opposition' practically speaking Good Vs. Evil.
Todorov - This Gentlemen believed that all films should have clear 'beginning, middle and an end (equilibrium)
Barthes - His theory was the 'Enigma code' this is the particular scenes within a TV program or film that gives the audience a clue on what is approaching within the show, for example if a gun is shown to the audience we immediately can recognise that something bad is around the corner.
Within TV programs including Soaps and films there are two such films called narratives and there are open ones and closed ones these differ within the show being presented to us at that specific time and place.
- Open narrative is a continuous story line within the drama the audience is watching. This could be a follow on to a film. Or a story line about some certain characters within a soap that is an ongoing scenario.
- Closed narrative however is completely different and this is were the brief story line stops. for example one film with no follow on. And for example if someone made a cuppa tea within a soap.
- However there is one more narrative that occasionally happens for a Soap for example to continue its ongoing life smoothly. These are called multi-stranded narratives, this is were different story lines start after another one finishes or intertwines with one another.

audience theories
Hyperdermic Syringe - This theory is based around the response from an audience within the fact that they cannot stop watching a soap and constantly crave for that fix of information.
Uses and Gratisfication - This theory is separated into several different pleasures. These are Diversion, Personal Identity, Personal Relationship and Surveillance, these separate theories relate to way in which an audience would consume the information provide by the soap and then to how they share it with friends and family.
Copy Cat Theory- This theory is very simply based around the affect a film or soap/drama has upon an audience for example the recent Batman film 'The Dark Knight Rises' practically brainwashed a sick and twisted young man 'James Holmes' who then went on to kill 12 people at the official release premier. He Dressed as the 'Joker' a character from the previous film.
Desensitisation - This theory makes the audience approach the actions shown within films or Tv programs in more acceptable way and feel that this could actually happen within society and it would be accepted with open arms.

typical soap settings

The Queen Victoria is the pub situated directly in the middle of Eastenders and is predominantly the main steriotype within the soap industry.
The small shop found within Eastenders isn't the most popular steriotype that would pop into your head when you first think of the Soap, but without a small off licence or even just some were, were the residence of Eastenders can purchase grocery's would reduce the reality factor of the soap.
Once again this the steriotype which is the 'Pub'. This time found within a different soap, Coronation street, and like Eastenders with the Queen Vic the Rover Return is also situated within the middle of the set.
Engineers and mechanics are current throughout TV Soaps and is a very stereotypical whereabouts for viewers to be presented via the actors and scenarios placed within a Soap.
conventions of soaps
In our first lesson, the topic was a discussion on soaps and their conventions and how they affect the public. Firstly we were told to wirte down all of the soaps that we could think of, here are some of the ones we came up with.
Eastenders
further on within the lesson we were asked to watch a short clip on Eastenders progressively writing down key points that make a soap so successful. Here are some of the things i wrote down.
- Eastenders
- Coronation street
- Hollyoaks
- Home + Away
- Emerdale
- Neighbours
- Doctors
- Casualty
- Romance
- Murder
- Cliff hangers
- Relationships
- Family dramas
Eastenders
further on within the lesson we were asked to watch a short clip on Eastenders progressively writing down key points that make a soap so successful. Here are some of the things i wrote down.
- Repetition on previous happenings (so we can catch up)
- reality put into perspective and by this i mean that, scenarios that could potentially happen within the world we're living in happen right in front of your eyes.
- exciting constant story lines

Here is my finale, completed billboard image. With some changes from the previous one. after realising that i needed two photos rather than one i had to re-think my ideas on my images, so i decided to go out with my partner take some more images and then place them onto my billboard i feel my new images contrast better with my background and give it a rather spooky feel.

my billboard trailer
Here is my finished billboard image, which is awaiting to be premiered on film 4 at 9.30 PM, 22/9/12.
I decided to choose manly white writing because i felt it conoted perhaps a silver liniing which everyone hopes for within a horror movie. I also felt that the writing contrasted well with the rusty, dark background. making it stand out, being easy, and visible for the passing audiences.
